A toy manufacturer sells its products for $60/unit. The cost of manufacturing the product is obtained according to the equation B = x² + 10x. How many units of product must be produced and sold in order to earn $600 profit!

Answer:
Profit = Income - Manufacturing cost
Profit = Selling price x amount produced - Manufacturing cost

600 = 60x - (x² + 10x)
600 = 60x - x² - 10x
600 = - x² + 50x
0 = - x² + 50x - 600
0 = x² - 50x + 600
0 = (x - 30)(x - 20)

x₁ - 30 = 0
x₁ = 30

x₂- 20 = 0
x₂ = 20

So to earn $600 profit should be produced and sold as many as 30 units or 20 units.
