Set Solution of Linear Equations One Variable

The general form of a linear equation of a variable is:
ax + b = 0

Information:
a = Coefficient
b = Constants
a ≠ 0

Some things to consider in solving linear equations of one variable are as follows:
  • The value of the equation is unchanged if on the left and right segments are added or subtracted by the same negative number or positive number.
  • Equation value is unchanged if on the left and right segments multiplied or divided by the same positive numbers.

The Steps for Solving Linear Equations One Variable

Taking into account both of the above, the steps for determining the solution of a linear equation of a variable are as follows:
  • If the variables and constants are on the left and the right of "=", then group the variables with the variable and place the left side of the sign equal to, then the constant with the constant on the right of the sign is equal to, or vice versa. Remember when moving variables or constants from left to right or vice versa, the marks change from + to - or vice versa.
  • If some variables have been grouped on the left then some constable on the right or vice versa. Sum or subtract variables as well as constants such as summing integers.
  • If the constants are merged into a single number as well as the variables, divide the combined constants with the coefficients of the combined variables.
  • If it meets a fractional number, either the left or the right "=", then it is best to multiply it by the smallest multiplicity of the denominator.

Please determine the value of x from 8x - 4 = 5x + 12!
