Scale in math

Scale is a comparable form of the size of a real magnitude. The symbol to declare the scale is ":". For example the scale on the map is written 1: 1,000,000 meaning if on the map 1cm, then the actual distance is 1,000,000 cm or 10km.

Example question of scale

Distance of 2 cities on the 7.5 cm map. If the scale on the map is 1: 150,000, what is the actual distance ??

Answer:
Actual distance = 7.5 cm x 150,000
Actual distance = 1,125,000 cm
Actual distance = 11.25 km

So the real distance is 11.25 km.
